Artist's Description
I wandered along the beach as sunset approached with it's orange, pink, and lavender hues. It was a stormy day. The waves were frothing, white capped, and wind blown. The lighthouse sat sentry amid the turmoil, a still guardian amidst the tumultuous sea.

Hi Kevin, Thank you. It was a wonderful day with the sunset colors, the salt/fishy scent of the ocean, the waves crashing in, and gulls calling overhead, the water glistening, and the lighthouse standing still amidst it all.

Ok...now Dorothy I am intrigued to hear the rest of your poem - love it so far... Thank you for your comments! The lighthouse sitting all alone out there in the middle of that frothing sea - made me feel it's heroism. How amazing it must be to sail on what I can only see from the shore!

Fabulous name! As a sailor, I can truly appreciate the title of this photo. I love the muted tone as well! It reminds me of a poem, I once wrote. A box with no windows. Open vast is the sea. Currents we travel, in search of thee. What is obvious to one, a cloud to another. Winds of change blow through not hover. Staying the course, the stars we see. Permission to come aboard, he asked of me. I won't stay, but a moment, I've got to go. The thunder it roars and the wind does blow. The main is raised, the hatches battened. Onward she'd sailed as the skies blackened.
